How to Successfully Use External Engineering Resources for Design Projects

Many companies are experiencing engineering resource shortages due to a tight labor market – more design projects than they have the internal bandwidth to complete. Or they may need an engineering skill unavailable in-house. Using external engineering resources thus becomes an option to meet development project deadlines. What are the gotchas? What capabilities should companies look for? We will discuss these questions and other key factors for success.

About Kurt Olsen & Jake Hunter

As VPI’s VP of Business Development, Kurt is also responsible for building strategic business relationships and working with VPI’s clients to achieve their goals in the development of new ideas. He has enjoyed tremendous success in bringing in many commercial projects as well as major government and military projects. He also leads VPI’s program management team.
Kurt received an MBA in Business Administration from Brigham Young University and a BA in Finance from Utah State University.

Jake Hunter is VPI’s Director of Electrical Engineering. He leads a team of talented electrical engineers and is responsible for a significant number of successful electronics designs for VPI’s customers, including the popular Orbit b-have Wi-Fi sprinkler controller. He has been with VPI for nearly 14 years.
Jake received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Utah.
